{"id":6831,"date":"2025-09-10T13:31:02","date_gmt":"2025-09-10T13:31:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/art-japan.jp\/en\/?p=6831"},"modified":"2025-09-10T13:35:54","modified_gmt":"2025-09-10T13:35:54","slug":"seizan-gallery-tokyo-%e5%87%b8%e3%80%80aya-fujioka-life-studies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/art-japan.jp\/en\/exhibitions\/6831\/","title":{"rendered":"SEIZAN GALLERY TOKYO \u51f8\u3000Aya Fujioka: Life Studies"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-start=\"85\" data-end=\"318\">In conjunction with the third edition of Tokyo Gendai, we are pleased to present Ayaka Fujioka\u2019s works \u201cLife Studies (102)\u201d and \u201cLife Studies (103)\u201d from her forthcoming photo book <em data-start=\"268\" data-end=\"282\">LIFE STUDIES<\/em>, scheduled for release this fall.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"320\" data-end=\"792\">Born in 1972 in Kure, Hiroshima Prefecture, Fujioka graduated from the Department of Photography at Nihon University College of Art and later studied abroad in Taiwan. She continued her photographic journey while traveling across Europe, Brazil, and other parts of the world. From 2007, she spent approximately five years in New York through the Agency for Cultural Affairs&#8217; Overseas Study Program for Emerging Artists. She is currently based in her hometown of Hiroshima.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"794\" data-end=\"1315\">Fujioka\u2019s works have been exhibited both in Japan and internationally, including at the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa and the Tbilisi Photo Festival. Her photographs are held in the collections of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa, and the Tokyo Photographic Art Museum. Her acclaimed 2018 series <em data-start=\"1171\" data-end=\"1188\">Here Goes River<\/em> garnered her three prestigious awards: the Tadahiko Hayashi Award, the Kimura Ihei Photography Award, and the Ina Nobuo Award.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1317\" data-end=\"1580\"><em data-start=\"1317\" data-end=\"1331\">LIFE STUDIES<\/em> is a series centered on photographs taken between 2007 and 2012 during Fujioka\u2019s time in New York as an emerging artist.
