Arienai to ienai uso….. An untruth that cannot be said to be untrue
Although the images appear to be complete works, Ami Yamashiro says that she leaves her images in a state of incompletion, relying on the viewer’s perceptions to finish the work. Each viewer is invited to continue the creative process by adding their own concepts to the image and completing the mental picture. In this way, Ms. Yamashiro hopes that the viewer will view and review the image, adding greater thought and perception to it thereby never tiring of the work. With her concept, “An untruth that cannot be said to be untrue,” she brings the viewer to question their own perceptions of reality, fiction and the gray spaces that lie between the two.
